Review: Ore Monogatari!! (My Love Story!!) - Episode 12, "My Grades"

Episode spoilers ahead...you've been warned.

With episode 12--"My Grades"--Ore Monogatari!! has reached the halfway point of its season and I'm happy to say it's still going strong, delivering its best episode yet. I started worrying about Ore Monogatari!! a few episodes ago, unsure of how it would be able to keep the lovey-dovey romance alive for 24 episodes without getting stale, but, if the show can recapture the vibe sprinkled throughout "My Grades," Ore Monogatari!! will be just fine.

What is it about "My Grades" that works so well? It's that the episode is not just about Takeo and Yamato, but the wonderful cast of characters that are a part of their lives--like Suna and Takeo's parents. When Ore Monogatari!! focuses solely on Takeo and Yamato, the show becomes exhausting real fast because young, idealistic first love is exhausting with its excessive optimism and innocence, so, when the show is nothing but that, it's a bit too much; however, when we get to see the way everyone else reacts to their love story, it's pure bliss.

PSP #218: New Anime Weekly Roundup / Reviews - Log Horizon (Season 1)

In today's chubby episode, Marc starts off the Monday show as usual with a weekly roundup of all the Spring '15 shows they're currently watching; though, sadly, the recording of their thoughts regarding the latest episode of Ore Monogatari--"My Grades"--was corrupted and this especially sucks 'cause it was their favorite episode of any anime this week. Sadness aside, Marc also reviews the first season of Log Horizon after getting through the, otherwise, sad-free weekly roundup. Cheers and enjoy the show!

P.S. If you're looking for another podcast about anime, why not check out Crazy Sunshine Podcast, eh?

Anyway, that's it and that's all, folks, and, if you're feeling extra generous, donate a little money or subscribe to show your support for the site and show(s); it's not free to host the site, the show, to make and record videos, and everything in between, so, anything would be greatly appreciated, even if you just tell a friend or two about the site and show(s). Y'all can also support the site by shopping at Amazon if that's what ya like. PSP #217: Reviews - Hozuki no Reitetsu and My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected. (Season 2) / Previews - Princess Jellyfish / Netflix Annoyances

In today's bite-size episode, Marc starts off the show with a little rant about Netflix streaming when it comes to anime and then talks briefly about Princess Jellyfish. After that initial nonsense, Marc reviews the second season of My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected. and Hozuki no Reitetsu--which has humor drier than Marc's dry-ass skin and most definitely darker; though, that's not saying much. Cheers and enjoy the show!

In today's super-charged episode, Marc starts off the show as usual with a weekly roundup of all the Spring '15 shows they're currently watching--you may be surprised by the show(s) he liked most this week. After that, Marc goes back in time (but not too far) and reviews Yuki Yuna is a Hero, The Comic Artist and His Assistants, and an anime with a title that may just be better than DanMachi's: My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected.. Cheers and enjoy the show!

PSP #215: Usagi Drop Review / Amagi Brilliant Park Review / Yuki Yuna is a Hero Preview / Blah

In today's episode, Marc reviews both Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop) and Amagi Brilliant Park; one of these shows is their favorite anime of all time, but I won't tell ya here 'cause then you wouldn't have a reason to listen to the show, eh; though, their favorite shouldn't come as much of a surprise if you know 'em at all. Also, after dropping a few brilliant reviews, Marc previews the magical girl anime, Yuki Yuna is a Hero and, if you hate spoilers, hide your eyes 'cause I have a spoiler for you...Yuki Yuna is, indeed, a hero. Cheers and enjoy the show!

Euphonium--which they are now up to date with--then does a little weekly roundup discussing all the spring '15 shows they're currently watching--including Ore Monogatari, Food Wars!, and the delightfully titled, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (DanMachi for short). After that, Marc reviews a few older shows that are very different from one another: BTOOOM! and Humanity Has Declined. Cheers and enjoy the show!

PSP #213: Say, "I love you" Review / Punch Line What? / Rogue Legacy

In today's episode, Marc changes up the format just a smidgen, breaking off each little topic into its own segment, with the good ol' Insult Ninja as your podcast tour guide. And now that I got that tidbit of information out of the way, I can let y'all know what was actually discussed on this here episode. Marc starts the show with a lengthy review of Say "I love you."--which he quite enjoyed--then loses his mind trying to make sense of Punch Line before ending with happy thoughts about Rogue Legacy. Cheers and I hope y'all enjoy the show!

PSP #212: The Work of Makoto Shinkai - The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5cm per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and The Garden of Words / Punch Line / Say, "I love you"

In today's episode, a very tired Marc talks about the many works of Makoto Shinkai--including the beautiful short film, The Garden of Words, the very Studio Ghibli-inspired, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and a very short film about a cat and its owner simply called, She and Her Cat. And after Marc gets that abundance of Shinkai out of their system, they talk about a few series--Punch Line and Say, "I love you"--one of which they just don't get and the other being full of the feels; go ahead and guess which is which; it shouldn't be too difficult.

PSP #211: When Marnie Was There Review / MY love STORY!! and Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma / Schrödinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark Review / Fairway Solitaire Woes

In today's episode, Marc continues talkin' a whole hell of a lot about anime since he's finally up to date with both Food Wars! and Ore Monogatari, but the anime doesn't stop there; Marc also reviews (without spoilers) what may be the final Studio Ghibli movie, When Marnie Was There--which is absolutely beautiful and must be seen in theaters for those lucky enough to have it playing near them. After all that lovely anime is out of the way, Marc finishes the episode with their final thoughts about Schrödinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark and what may be the end of their relationship with Fairway Solitare!
