iPhone: Doodle Jump Review

Doodle sorta rhymes with cool, and that reminds me of FUEL. Wait, what?!

  • Game: Doodle Jump (v1.9)
  • Developer: Lima Sky
  • Price (at time of review): $0.99
  • Release Date: 10/15/2009

Doodle Jump is a relatively simple game. The entire purpose is to get your little doodle guy as high as possible while dodging enemies, holes, and never missing a platform. The world is filled with power-ups and hazards and it’s never the same game twice. With all that said, Doodle Jump is completely reliant on tilt controls and thankfully they work almost flawlessly.

Doodle Jump is a perfect arcade-esque game and the kind of game that keeps you coming back to beat your high score, or the high score of your friends. It features Facebook and Twitter integration for posting your scores and challenging friends, which all works as it should. Another nice (and subtle) aspect of Doodle Jump is that it shows you exactly how far your friends made it while actually playing the game.

Doodle Jump is challenging, but never frustrating. It’s perfect for quick fixes, but you can find yourself playing it for hours, constantly trying to beat your friends and best your high score. It’s a no-brainer for all iPhone owners and a perfect time-waster.
